A 5.8-magnitude earthquake struck the border region between Guatemala and El Salvador. According to the Guatemalan National Institute of Seismology, Volcanology, Meteorology, and Hydrology, a 5.8-magnitude earthquake struck Jutiapa Department in southern Guatemala, near the El Salvador border, at a depth of 5 kilometers at 3:21 PM local time on the 29th. Several aftershocks, ranging in magnitude from 3.4 to 5.7, have since occurred in the vicinity. Officials have not yet released any reports on casualties or property damage. The Guatemalan National Coordinating Committee for Disaster Reduction has urged residents to take precautions and prepare for emergency evacuation. (CCTV)
