[Powerful Kamchatka Earthquake Causes Tsunamis in Multiple Countries] According to measurements and verification by the China Earthquake Networks Center, a magnitude 8.7 earthquake struck offshore the east coast of Kamchatka at 7:24 a.m. Beijing time today (July 30th), with a focal depth of 10 kilometers. Due to this strong earthquake, Russia, Japan, the United States, Indonesia, the Philippines, Ecuador, Chile, New Zealand, and other countries have issued tsunami warnings. Tsunamis have already occurred in multiple locations in Russia and Japan. Monitoring and analysis indicate that tsunamis are expected to have some impact on the coasts of Shanghai, southern Zhoushan, Zhejiang, and eastern Taiwan. The Ministry of Natural Resources' Tsunami Warning Center has issued a yellow tsunami alert. In accordance with the Marine Disaster Emergency Plan, the Ministry of Natural Resources has activated a Level 2 marine disaster emergency response for Zhejiang Province and Shanghai at 10:00 a.m. today.
