Zhejiang Provincial Marine Monitoring and Forecasting Center Issues Yellow Tsunami Warning: At 07:24 (Beijing Time) on July 30, 2025, a magnitude 8.7 earthquake struck offshore Kamchatka (52.40°N, 160.20°E) at a depth of 20 kilometers. After joint consultation and analysis with the Tsunami Warning Center of the Ministry of Natural Resources, the earthquake has triggered a transoceanic tsunami. The Tsunami Warning Center of the Ministry of Natural Resources has issued a yellow tsunami warning, and the Zhejiang Provincial Marine Monitoring and Forecasting Center issued a yellow tsunami warning at 12:00. The maximum tsunami amplitude along the Zhejiang coast is expected to be 0.3-0.5 meters, reaching northern Zhejiang waters around 7:00 PM and lasting approximately two hours. Typhoon "Hypokora" is currently moving through Zhejiang Province. The current combined effects of waves, storm surge, and tsunami waves will occur during low tide along the Zhejiang coast, with a maximum amplitude of 0.3-0.5 meters. The overall tsunami risk is projected to be low. However, coastal areas still need to be highly vigilant and implement the province's unified typhoon prevention deployment. In particular, coastal residents should pay attention to personal safety and stay away from the coast. The Zhejiang Provincial Marine Monitoring and Forecasting Center will strengthen early warning monitoring and risk assessment. Please pay close attention to subsequent early warning alerts.
