[Spain should continue to outperform the rest of Europe] Melanie Debono of Pantheon Macroeconomics wrote in a note to clients that Spain should continue to outperform the rest of Europe. Data released this week showed that Spain's economy accelerated in the three months to June, growing by 0.7%, up from 0.6% in the first quarter. According to Pantheon's estimates, the growth rate should slow slightly in the second half of the year, but the eurozone's fourth-largest economy should still expand by 2.5% for the full year, well above the 1.2% growth the eurozone is likely to record. Debono said that this outperformance will be attributed in part to the relatively low exposure of Spain's commodity exports to U.S. trade.
