Flights disrupted at three major London airports due to a technical malfunction in the air traffic control system. A technical malfunction at a major air traffic control center has forced regulators to limit the number of inbound and outbound flights. NATS, the UK's main air traffic control provider, said in a statement: "Our engineers are working tirelessly to resolve the issue and are working closely with airlines to minimize disruption." The statement noted that the affected airport is the Swanwick control center in southern England. Heathrow Airport, the UK's largest and Europe's busiest, has been affected, with both takeoffs and landings disrupted. London Gatwick Airport issued a statement saying, "No flights are currently departing until the issue is resolved." The smaller London City Airport also experienced operational disruptions. This marks the second major flight disruption at Heathrow Airport, following a power outage caused by a substation fire a few months ago that paralyzed the airport for the entire day.
