Myanmar Decides to Lift National State of Emergency: On July 31, Myanmar's National Defense and Security Council held a meeting in Naypyidaw and decided to lift the national state of emergency starting August 1, with no further extensions. In February 2021, Acting President Myint Swe declared a one-year state of emergency and transferred power to the Commander-in-Chief of the Defense Forces. The Defense Forces General Headquarters subsequently established the State Administration Council, with Min Aung Hlaing as its chairman. Myanmar has since extended the national state of emergency several times. (CCTV News)
