On July 31, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority announced the results of its residential mortgage statistics survey for June 2025. The number of new loan applications in June increased by 4.8% month-on-month to 8,581 cases compared with May. The amount of newly approved mortgage loans in June increased by 3.3% from May to HK$27.5 billion. Among them, loans approved for primary market transactions increased by 4.2% to HK$9.3 billion; loans approved for secondary market transactions increased by 2.4% to HK$15 billion. As for loans approved for refinancing transactions, they increased by 5.2% to HK$3.2 billion. The amount of newly drawn mortgage loans in June increased by 8.9% from May to HK$17.7 billion.
