[Brazilian President Lula's Approval Rating Rises Amid Tariff Dispute] A poll shows that Brazilian President Lula's approval rating has surpassed his disapproval rating for the first time in nine months, amid an intensifying dispute between Brazil and the United States. In early July, US President Trump said he would impose a 50% tariff on Brazilian exports, citing "political persecution" against Lula's right-wing rival, former President Jair Bolsonaro. The Lula government hit back, calling Trump an unwelcome "emperor" and calling the sanctions "unacceptable." An AtlasIntel/Bloomberg poll shows Lula's approval rating at 50.2%, up from 49.7% two weeks ago. This marks the first time since October that Lula's approval rating has surpassed his disapproval rating.
