Navarro's comments echoed those of President Trump himself, who sharply criticized a 7-4 appeals court ruling last week that most of his tariffs were illegal , putting a core tenet of the administration's economic agenda in jeopardy.

The final ruling on the matter is likely to be decided by the U.S. Supreme Court. As the fight over Trump's tariffs intensifies, the president's advisers believe the ultimate outcome is crucial to the nation's future.
“This is the weaponization of partisan injustice at its worst,” Navarro said.
"If we lose this case, and President Trump is right, it will be the end of America," he said.
Navarro also said he was "very optimistic" about the administration's arguments before the Supreme Court. "A very good dissent provides a road map for the Supreme Court, and we're very optimistic," he said.
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit ruled on Friday that Trump exceeded his presidential authority by imposing sweeping, reciprocal tariffs on nearly every country in the world and justifying them by invoking the International Emergency Economic Powers Act of 1977. The appeals court allowed Trump's tariffs to remain in place until October 14, giving the Trump administration time to appeal to the Supreme Court.
"It would be a complete disaster for this Country if these Tariffs were removed," Trump wrote on his Truth Social social media site after the ruling.
He added, "With the help of the U.S. Supreme Court, we will use Tariffs to benefit our Country and make America Rich and Strong Again!"
Late Sunday, Trump reiterated his dire warnings about tariffs.
"Without tariffs, and all the trillions of dollars we've already secured, our country would be completely destroyed and our military would be wiped out in an instant," he wrote on Truth Social.
Trump's claim that his tariffs have already brought "trillions" to the U.S. treasury is false. The latest data from the U.S. Treasury Department shows that the United States has generated $142 billion in tariff revenue so far this fiscal year. Most of this came from tariffs collected before Trump's tariff "Liberation Day" in April, with the majority of the announced levies not taking effect until early August.
The Tax Policy Center estimates that if Trump's tariffs are ultimately proven legal, they would raise a total of about $2.9 trillion from fiscal years 2026 to 2035.
However, Trump's tariffs aren't paid by foreign governments or companies. American consumers typically bear the brunt of tariffs, as American businesses often have to raise prices to cope with higher costs. The Tax Policy Center estimates that Trump's tariffs will "burden the average taxpayer about $2,700 in 2026."
Without going to court, the tariffs would affect about 69% of U.S. imports, but if blocked, they would affect only about 16%, according to the Tax Foundation.
Some parts of Trump's agenda will not be affected by Friday's court ruling. Most notably, his industry-specific tariffs on steel and aluminum are unaffected by the appeals court's decision.
