Croatia's August Inflation Rate Remains High at 4.1% (1) Croatia's annualized inflation rate reached 4.1% in August, unchanged from July and remaining at its highest level since March 2024, consistent with the preliminary estimate. (2) Housing and utility inflation accelerated to 8.1% (from 6.0% previously), becoming the main source of price pressure, primarily driven by rising electricity and gas costs. (3) Alcohol and tobacco prices rose slightly (5.6% vs. 5.5%), while communications costs turned positive (0.1% vs. -0.6%). (4) Food and non-alcoholic beverage prices rose at a slower pace (6.3% vs. 6.9%), while inflation in restaurants and accommodation (7.5% vs. 7.6%) and miscellaneous goods and services (5.4% vs. 6.1%) declined. (5) Clothing and footwear continued to experience deflation (-0.6% vs. -1.9%), while transportation prices declined further (-1.3% vs. -0.9%). ⑹ Furniture and home appliance prices saw zero growth (0.0% vs. 1.1%). ⑺ Consumer prices rose by 0.1% month-on-month in August, hitting a six-month low, compared to a 0.4% increase in the previous month.
