[Analyst: The upside of palm oil may be limited in the short term] Lester Siew, an analyst at Daiwa Capital Markets, said in a report that the upside of palm oil prices may be limited in the short term. Siew pointed out that palm oil production in August was close to the historical peak level of around 1.9 million tons, and the month-on-month growth rate of production in September is expected to slow down. He added that Malaysia's palm oil exports in September may also be flat or slightly lower month-on-month. Early export surveys by InterTech Testing Services and Malaysia's Anshi Group showed that Malaysia's palm oil exports fell by 1% to 8% month-on-month from September 1 to 10. Currently, Daiwa Capital Markets maintains a "market weight" rating for the Malaysian plantation sector.
