Kazakhstan's economic growth hit a record high of 9.6% in the first eight months of 2025. (1) Kazakhstan's short-term economic indicators grew by 9.6% year-on-year in the first eight months of 2025, the fastest growth since records began in 2008 and significantly higher than the 4.4% growth in the same period last year. (2) Strong economic performance was supported by a 21.5% increase in the transportation and warehousing sector, an 18.1% increase in construction, an 8.9% increase in wholesale and retail trade, and a 7.6% increase in mining and industry. (3) The Astana region led the way with an 18.6% increase, followed by significant growth in Shymkent (+15.0%) and North Kazakhstan (+14%). (4) The economy of East Kazakhstan contracted by 2.7%, while the Ultau region saw a 1.0% decline.
