Canadian factory sales rose by a stronger-than-expected 2.5% in July. (1) Canadian manufacturing sales rose by 2.5% to C$70.3 billion in July 2025, surpassing the previous estimate of a 0.3% increase and exceeding the previous forecast of a 1.8% increase. (2) This was the largest increase since January 2023, led by sales growth in transportation equipment (+8.6%), petroleum and coal products (+6.2%), and primary metals (+3.5%). (3) Chemical sales fell by 2.5%, becoming the largest drag. (4) Manufacturing sales fell by 1.7% year-on-year.
