According to the AIGC open community, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH Zurich), and the Swiss National Supercomputing Center (CSCS) have jointly released a large-scale open source language model called Apertus. The model means "open" in Latin and truly takes "open" to the extreme. While major American models such as OpenAI's GPT series, Meta's Llama, and Anthropic's Claude are still using "data black boxes", Apertus makes the model weights, architecture, training code, data recipes, and even the complete training process documentation public without reservation.
