U.S. Energy Secretary: Not Ready to Completely Abandon Russian Uranium Purchases - U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright stated on September 15th that the purchase of Russian enriched uranium cannot be completely abandoned for the time being. In an interview with Bloomberg News at the International Atomic Energy Agency's annual meeting in Vienna, Wright said, "We are approaching that point, but we are not yet at the point where we can stop using Russian enriched uranium." Wright noted, "We need to have large-scale domestic uranium production and enrichment capacity."
