Ningbo-Zhoushan Port is the world's largest port, with an annual cargo throughput exceeding 1.4 billion tons and over 800,000 vessel arrivals and departures. Due to natural constraints such as narrow waterways, the waterway is busy and traffic is complex. In 2019, the Ningbo Maritime Safety Administration took the lead nationwide in implementing integrated vessel traffic organization in the core port area of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port, coordinating resources such as waterways, anchorages, and pilotage, and launching a "vessel timetable," with plans released uniformly one day in advance. After implementation, the on-time performance rate of the main channel reached 98%, and the efficiency of entering and leaving the port improved by 35%. In response to the high requirements for on-time performance in container liner shipping, the Ningbo Maritime Safety Administration further optimized this mechanism, launching the "Container Shipping On-Time Performance and Cost Reduction Plan" to improve liner service punctuality and reduce overall costs.
