On December 12 local time, the Coordinating Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement issued a statement expressing serious concern over the recent escalation of tensions in the Caribbean region. The statement pointed out that the recent interception and seizure of oil tankers, as well as the unilateral declaration by certain parties to "close" Venezuelan airspace, seriously violate international law and the relevant principles of the UN Charter. The Coordinating Bureau firmly opposes these actions, stating that they occur against the backdrop of escalating tensions in the Caribbean region and will only further exacerbate the already fragile situation.
