On Friday (December 12), spot gold rose 0.53% to $4,302.68 per ounce in late New York trading, up 2.49% for the week. It was roughly flat from Monday to Wednesday (before the Federal Reserve announced its interest rate cut and Treasury bill purchases), then continued to rise but fell significantly on Friday. Spot gold rose approximately 2.5% for the week. COMEX gold futures rose 0.48% to $4,333.60 per ounce, up 2.14% for the week, having reached a high of $4,387.80 on Friday.
