New South Wales Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon confirmed on Monday that the suspects are a 50-year-old father and his 24-year-old son from the city's western suburbs. The Australian Broadcasting Corporation, citing law enforcement sources, reported that the two gunmen are identified as Naveed Akram and his father, Sajid. Lanyon stated that the father, who died in the shooting, had been possessing firearms for 10 years and had licenses for six weapons. Police are satisfied with the six guns recovered from the scene. Lanyon also stated that police found two functional improvised explosive devices, which have been safely defused. Police are no longer searching for a third suspect. (CCTV)
