[Canadian Existing Home Sales Decline 0.6% in November] (1) Despite recent interest rate cuts, the Canadian real estate market remains sluggish, with existing home sales and prices declining in tandem in November. (2) The Canadian Real Estate Association (CRA) reported that seasonally adjusted existing home sales fell 0.6% month-over-month in November; while unadjusted sales data showed a year-over-year decline of nearly 11%. The association also noted that current sales levels remain below the 10-year monthly moving average, reflecting continued low market activity. (3) Shaun Cathcart, senior economist at the CRA, said that both buyers and sellers are currently in a wait-and-see mode. He further added that sellers are actively lowering their asking prices to facilitate transactions before the end of the year.
