[Nasdaq Seeks to Extend Trading Hours] Nasdaq plans to file documents with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Monday to launch a 24/7 stock trading mechanism, proposing to extend the trading hours for stocks and exchange-traded products from the current 16 hours per day to 23 hours per day, five working days a week. If the "5 days a week, 23 hours per day" trading plan is implemented, there will be two trading sessions: the daytime trading session will start at 4:00 AM and end at 8:00 PM, and the nighttime trading session will start at 9:00 PM and end at 4:00 AM the following day. The daytime trading session will continue the current pre-market, regular, and after-hours trading arrangements, maintaining the opening bell at 9:30 AM and closing bell at 4:00 PM. In the nighttime trading session, trades executed between 9:00 PM and midnight will be carried over to the next trading day. The trading cycle will be adjusted to begin at 9:00 PM on Sunday and end at 8:00 PM on Friday (i.e., Friday evening).
