[Conflict Continues, Trade in Thai Border Town Stagnates] The Poipet border crossing, the largest land route between Thailand and Cambodia, has been completely closed since the outbreak of the latest round of border conflict. The once bustling crossing is now deserted, with only military and police presence. Nearby towns, whose economy depends on the border, have also come to a standstill. The economic impact of the conflict is starkly reflected in data from the Thai Ministry of Commerce. From January to May 2025, monthly trade between the Thai and Cambodian borders remained stable at 16 billion baht. After the outbreak of the conflict, from July to September, trade plummeted to an average of only 11 million baht per month, less than one-thousandth of its previous level.
