[Eurozone Services PMI Slows to Three-Month Low in December] ⑴ Preliminary data showed that the Eurozone services purchasing managers' index (PMI) fell to 52.6 in December from 53.6 in November, marking the slowest expansion in three months. ⑵ Services activity has grown for the seventh consecutive month and remains the main driver of overall Eurozone expansion, although the momentum weakened at the end of the year. ⑶ New orders growth slowed due to a sharp decline in overseas business, but companies continued hiring for the third consecutive month, reflecting continued resilience in demand. ⑷ Companies further reduced their backlogs, with the decline in unfilled orders at the fastest pace in three months. ⑸ On the price front, input cost inflation, mainly driven by the services sector, climbed to a nine-month high, while producer price inflation remained moderate, only slightly higher than November levels. ⑹ Business confidence in the services sector weakened significantly, falling to its lowest level since May, as concerns about the outlook (particularly in Germany) dampened sentiment heading into the new year.
