[Soybean Futures Fall to Seven-Week Low] ⑴ Soybean futures fell towards $10.70 per bushel, hitting a seven-week low, as concerns about slowing U.S. soybean exports and expectations of a bumper Brazilian harvest weighed on the market. ⑵ Purchases of U.S. soybeans have remained weak, with confirmed sales since late October amounting to only 3.516 million tons, far below market expectations of 12 million tons, suppressing market sentiment. ⑶ As of the week ending December 11, U.S. soybean export inspections fell 22% from the previous week and 46% year-on-year. Meanwhile, speculative funds held substantial net long positions, increasing the risk of liquidation. ⑷ On the supply side, Brazilian soybean planting is 97% complete, and expectations of a bumper South American harvest continue to put downward pressure on prices.
