He made this statement when asked about his opinion on a Vanity Fair interview with Wells, which reported that Wells called Vance a "conspiracy theorist." Speaking at an event in Pennsylvania, Vance said, "If any of us have learned anything from that Vanity Fair article, I hope the lesson is that we should do fewer interviews with the mainstream media." He also said that he knows Wells well and has never seen Wells go against President Trump's wishes.
