[Arctic Temperatures Hit Record Highest Since 1900] The U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) annual Arctic climate report released on December 16th shows that the average surface temperature in the Arctic region during the statistical period from October 2024 to September 2025 reached its highest level since records began in 1900. The report states that the past 10 years have been the warmest 10 years on record in the Arctic. Since 2006, the Arctic region has warmed at an average rate more than twice the global average.
