[Bank of Thailand Cuts Rates by 25 Basis Points to 1.25%, Pledges to Maintain Easing] ⑴ The Bank of Thailand (BOT) cut its key interest rate by 25 basis points to 1.25%, in line with market expectations. The committee unanimously voted to cut the rate. ⑵ The BOT stated that monetary policy should remain accommodative to support economic recovery and is prepared to adjust its stance based on evolving economic and inflation prospects. ⑶ The BOT noted that economic growth is expected to slow, and inflation is expected to return to the target level in the first half of 2027. Medium-term inflation expectations have declined slightly but remain within the target range, with low deflation risks. ⑷ The BOT stated that it will consider foreign exchange measures to alleviate upward pressure on the baht. ⑸ Market reaction: The baht maintained its earlier gains against the US dollar, while the benchmark Thai stock index remained largely unchanged after the BOT decision, currently down 0.2%.
