[Bank of Thailand Cuts Rates by 25 Basis Points to 1.25% as Expected] ⑴ The Bank of Thailand cut its benchmark interest rate by 25 basis points to 1.25% at its December policy meeting, in line with market expectations. ⑵ To address the impact of US tariffs, high household debt, and the strengthening of the Thai baht on the weak economy, the central bank has cut key interest rates five times in the past year, totaling 125 basis points. ⑶ This rate cut brings the interest rate to its lowest level since December 2022.
