[Indonesian Central Bank Keeps Interest Rates Unchanged, Rupiah Strengthens] ⑴ On Wednesday afternoon, the Indonesian rupiah strengthened against the US dollar to around 16,680, after falling to a low of nearly 16,710 during the session. This followed the central bank's third consecutive meeting where it kept the benchmark interest rate unchanged at 4.75%, in line with market expectations. ⑵ Governor Perry Wajiyo stated that this move aimed to maintain monetary stability and enhance the effectiveness of policy transmission. The bank has already cut interest rates by a total of 150 basis points between September 2024 and September 2025 to support growth, but Wajiyo reiterated that the central bank will continue to assess the scope for further easing, and inflation next year will remain within the target range of 1.5% to 3.5%. ⑶ Globally, the US dollar index rose slightly to 98.5, but remained near a two-month low, as mixed US employment data and market expectations for Federal Reserve policy remained largely unchanged.
