[Germany's Energy Structure Observation: Natural Gas Consumption Rebounds, Renewable Electricity Share Remains Flat] ⑴ Preliminary data from the German Energy Industry Association (BDEW) shows that national natural gas consumption reached 875 billion kWh in 2025, a 3.6% increase compared to 2024. ⑵ Net natural gas imports in 2025 were 772 billion kWh, the same as in 2024, indicating that domestic consumption growth mainly relied on inventory or other channels for replenishment. ⑶ Regarding import sources, Norwegian pipeline gas accounted for 39% of supply in November, while 94.7% of liquefied natural gas imported from January to November this year came from the United States, demonstrating significant dependence. ⑷ Total electricity generation in 2025 was 498.9 billion kWh, a slight increase of 0.8% year-on-year, with renewable energy accounting for 58%, consistent with the 2024 level. ⑸ Overall, Germany's energy consumption grew moderately, its energy structure transformation entered a plateau period, the share of renewable electricity did not increase further, while dependence on US LNG continued to deepen.
