[Mauritius's Trade Deficit Hits 10-Month High in October 2025] ⑴ Mauritius's trade deficit widened to 22.1 billion Mauritian rupees in October 2025, higher than the 19 billion Mauritian rupees in the same period last year, marking the largest trade deficit since December 2024. Imports increased by 9.7% year-on-year, reaching 31.2 billion Mauritian rupees. ⑵ The increase in imports was mainly driven by a 41.0% increase in purchases of food and live livestock, a 5.1% increase in mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials, and a 1.9% increase in machinery and transport equipment.
