[Tencent Upgrades Large-Scale Model R&D Architecture: Three New Departments Established, Former OpenAI Researcher Yao Shunyu Appointed to Core Positions] ⑴ On December 17th, Tencent recently completed an organizational restructuring of its large-scale model team, officially establishing the AIInfra Department, AIData Department, and Data Computing Platform Department to further improve its R&D system. ⑵ An internal announcement released that afternoon revealed that Vinces Yao will serve as the Chief AI Scientist in the "CEO/President's Office," reporting directly to Tencent President Martin Lau; he will also concurrently serve as the head of the AIInfra Department and the Large Language Model Department, reporting to Lu Shan, President of the Technology Engineering Group. ⑶ Although Tencent did not disclose Vinces Yao's Chinese name and resume in the announcement, it is understood that he is Yao Shunyu, who joined Tencent several months ago—a scholar who graduated from Tsinghua University's Yao Class and Princeton University, and previously served as an OpenAI researcher, a core contributor to the organization's first intelligent agent products, Operator and DeepResearch projects.
