Poland to Begin Production of Anti-Personnel Landmines, Plans Deployment on Eastern Border] Poland's Deputy Defense Minister stated that Poland has decided to begin production of anti-personnel landmines for the first time since the end of the Cold War, planning to deploy them on its eastern border and potentially export them to Ukraine in the future. Almost all European countries bordering Russia (except Norway) have announced plans to withdraw from global treaties banning such weapons, and Poland has joined this regional trend, hoping to strengthen border defenses with Belarus and Russia through anti-personnel landmines. Polish Deputy Defense Minister Pawel Zalewski stated, "We hope to acquire a large number of landmines as soon as possible."
