[UBS: EU Automotive Package Clearly Indicates No 180-Degree Turn in Climate Policy] UBS analyst Patrick Hummel writes that the EU's automotive package clearly indicates no 180-degree turn in climate policy. Given the market's high expectations for a fundamental shift in the EU's CO2 policy for the automotive industry, UBS states that the announced package is at best "in line with expectations," and may even be slightly disappointing. Much of the new package will only have financial significance after 2030, thus limiting its impact on short-term earnings. The most uncertain part of the plan is the incentives for EU-made small electric vehicles, which could benefit Stellantis and Renault, the two most active companies in the small, economical pure electric vehicle segment, followed by Volkswagen.
