European regulators have ordered airlines to inspect fuselage panels for defects on Airbus A320 family aircraft. The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has recommended inspections of some Airbus A320 family aircraft and has required operators to repair any fuselage panels found to be of non-compliant thickness. This is due to a quality issue in the production of some fuselage panels by one of Airbus's suppliers, which may have resulted in some fuselage panels delivered to Airbus deviating from the specified thickness. EASA stated that if these issues are not detected and corrected in a timely manner, this situation, combined with certain maintenance conditions, could affect the structural integrity of the aircraft.
