[French Industrial Confidence Hits Over 18-Month High in December] ⑴ The French manufacturing business climate index rose to 102 in December 2025 from 98 in November, returning above the long-term average of 100 and reaching its highest level since March 2024. ⑵ Sentiment improved significantly, with production turning positive. While personal production prospects fell slightly from 14 to 11, they remained above average. Foreign orders also improved to -6. ⑶ On the downside, overall orders remained weak at -17, while finished goods inventories increased further, indicating continued inventory pressure. ⑷ The labor supply and demand balance remained mildly negative, with employment expected to remain stable at -1. Economic uncertainty rose slightly to 33, the highest level this year. ⑸ By sector, confidence in the transportation equipment industry rebounded strongly, the machinery equipment industry improved moderately, while confidence in the food and beverage industry declined sharply. Other manufacturing sectors also saw slight declines and remained below their long-term averages.
