The United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) released its "Preliminary Overview of the Latin American and Caribbean Economy 2025" report in Santiago, Chile, on the 16th, predicting that the region's economy will grow by 2.4% this year and 2.3% next year. The report points out that Latin America and the Caribbean has experienced four consecutive years of low growth, with an average annual growth rate of only about 2.3%. In recent years, consumption has been the main driver of the region's economy, contributing more than half of its economic growth. However, against the backdrop of weak external demand and slowing employment growth, the contribution of consumption to the region's economic growth is expected to decline in 2025 and 2026. (Xinhua)
