[Massive Bond Issuance Imminent: Germany's 2026 Financing Blueprint, a New "Ballast" for the European Bond Market] ⑴ The German Federal Finance Agency announced on Thursday that the German government plans to issue approximately €512 billion in federal securities in 2026. ⑵ According to the plan, Europe's largest economy will raise €318 billion through auctions in the capital markets and €176 billion in the money market. ⑶ In addition, Germany plans to issue four syndicated bonds and €16 billion to €19 billion in green federal securities. ⑷ More detailed confirmation of the issuance plan for the second quarter of 2026 will be released next March. ⑸ This massive financing plan will provide a significant supply of benchmark assets to the European bond market, potentially putting upward pressure on the yield curve in core Eurozone countries and influencing the pace of the European Central Bank's asset purchase program.
