[Brazil's Import Share of Consumption Hits 22-Year High; Chinese Products' Influence Continues to Expand] On December 18th local time, the Brazilian National Confederation of Industry (CNI) released a survey showing that in 2024, the proportion of imported products in Brazilian consumer purchases will rise to 26.7%, a record high since the organization began compiling statistics 22 years ago. Data shows that from 2003, when the statistics began, to 2024, the share of imported goods in Brazilian consumption increased from 13.4% to 26.7%. The report also points out that consumers' purchases of Chinese products have become a significant driver of import growth. Currently, Chinese products account for 9.2% of the Brazilian consumer market, more than double what it was ten years ago. The report indicates that in recent years, the influence of Chinese products in the Brazilian market has continued to expand, covering areas from high-value-added products such as hybrid and electric vehicles to clothing and daily necessities purchased through international e-commerce platforms. In terms of specific categories, in addition to textiles, the market share of Chinese-made machinery, equipment, and computer products in Brazil is also continuously rising. (CCTV News)
