On the 18th local time, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi held talks with Sudanese Sovereign Council Chairman and Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Burhan, who was visiting Sudan. The Egyptian Presidential Palace subsequently issued a statement, clearly defining "maintaining Sudan's unity and territorial integrity" and "ensuring that Sudanese state institutions are not violated" as two "inviolable red lines" for Egypt on the Sudan issue. It also reiterated that Egypt has the full right to take all necessary measures and actions in accordance with international law and the Joint Defense Agreement between the two countries to ensure that these red lines are not violated or crossed.
