According to the National Seismological Center of the Peruvian Institute of Geophysics, a magnitude 5.0 earthquake struck 36 kilometers west of Chirca in the Cañete Province of the Lima Region, in the central coastal area of Peru, at 18:21 local time on February 26. The epicenter was at a depth of 53 kilometers. The tremor was felt in the capital city of Lima. There are currently no reports of casualties or damage.
