[Iran Allows French Container Ship to Pass Through Strait of Hormuz] According to Lloyds List Intelligence, a French container ship, after being stranded in the Persian Gulf for over a month, is now sailing eastward through the Strait of Hormuz via a route approved by Tehran. The CMA CGM "Kribi" entered the Persian Gulf from West Africa on February 26. The "Kribi" is one of over 1,000 ships waiting to pass through the strait since the start of the Iranian-led war in late February. CMA CGM did not respond to requests for comment. Dozens of ships have been permitted by Tehran to transit the strait via a route close to Laq Island, controlled by the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The "Kribi" is one of the few container ships from Western companies to be granted passage. In the past three weeks, several Greek, Chinese, and Russian ships have also transited via Laq Island.
