Dominic Kundel, an engineer at OpenAI, is secretly working on an open-source autonomous superintelligence framework project called Prometheus. This project features recursive self-evolution, aligned control over modifications, and real-time self-benchmarking. It's an AI agent capable of rewriting its own code and autonomously assessing its progress towards general superintelligence (ASI). Kundel, who is in charge of developer experience at OpenAI, appears to be conducting this research as a separate, personal project. The project's codebase officially went live this week.
