[Australia Job Advertisements Fall in March as Soaring Energy Costs May Drag Down Business Confidence] (1) Private sector data released on Tuesday showed that the number of job advertisements in Australia fell in March from a 16-month high the previous month, which may indicate that soaring global energy costs are beginning to drag down business confidence. (2) Data from ANZ and Indeed showed that the number of job advertisements fell 3.1% month-on-month in March (compared to a 3.2% increase in the previous month) and 0.6% year-on-year. (3) The decline in job advertisements was mainly concentrated in the education, nursing and retail sectors, offsetting the growth in project management and engineering positions. The logistics and transportation sector, which has been heavily affected by the Middle East conflict, saw its number of job advertisements remain largely unchanged in March.
