[RHB Investment Bank: Middle East Tensions May Drive Data Center Investments to Malaysia] (1) RHB Investment Bank analyst Adam Mohamed Rahim said that the ongoing tensions in the Middle East may lead to a shift of some data center investments to Asia, including Malaysia. (2) He estimates that while rising energy prices may increase the electricity costs of data centers, the impact is manageable under the fuel cost mechanism, with a potential increase of about 7%. Malaysia's relatively low construction costs keep it competitive with its regional counterparts. (3) The Johor-Singapore economic zone is highly attractive, and Johor is emerging as a top data center hub in Asia. By 2030, Malaysia's data center pipeline is estimated at 3,252 megawatts, equivalent to a construction value of about 90 billion ringgit.
