[Mitsubishi UFJ Bank: Oil Supply Through the Strait of Hormuz Expected to Improve, Potentially Adding 3 Million Barrels Per Day] (1) Michael Wan, senior currency analyst at Mitsubishi UFJ Bank, noted in a research report that oil supply through the Strait of Hormuz may be improving. Tankers currently appear to be testing an alternative route, sailing close to the waters south of Oman out of the strait. (2) In addition, Wan mentioned that Iran announced over the weekend that Iraq is now permitted to transport oil through the strait. (3) Wan added that this could mean an additional 3 million barrels of oil per day entering the market, but there are still many unknowns regarding how Iran defines "Iraqi oil."
