[India Postpones Some Refineries' Maintenance Shutdowns to Ensure Supply] Indian oil ministry officials said on the 6th that some of the country's refineries have postponed maintenance shutdowns to ensure domestic fuel demand. Reuters quoted Indian oil ministry official Sujata Sharma as saying that some oil companies, including Indian Oil Corporation and Bharat Oil Corporation, had planned routine maintenance on some of their refineries. However, considering that private company Nayara Energy had decided to shut down its 400,000-barrel-per-day Vadinar refinery for maintenance starting on the 9th, which would inevitably lead to a tightening of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) supplies in India, coupled with oil product shortages caused by the Middle East conflict, some Indian oil companies decided to postpone the maintenance shutdowns to ensure supply. The report said that Nayara Energy had originally planned a one-month maintenance shutdown at the Vadinar refinery last year, but due to EU sanctions making it difficult to obtain the key materials needed for the maintenance, it had to postpone the plan. Industry sources said the maintenance shutdown is expected to last 35 to 40 days. (Xinhua)
