[Kazakhstan: Oil Exports via CPC Pipeline Remain Stable Despite Russian Claim of Ukrainian Attack] (1) The Russian Ministry of Defense said Monday that Ukraine attacked the Novorossiysk port maritime transshipment complex overnight, damaging a mooring point of the Caspian Pipeline Corporation (CPC) and setting fire to four refined oil depots. The Ukrainian military said its drones attacked the Sheskharis oil loading facility, about 15 kilometers from the CPC terminal. (2) Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Energy responded Tuesday that oil transport via the CPC remains stable. Deputy Minister Yesimkhanov said the oil sector is operating normally and exports have not been affected. The CPC terminal handles 80% of Kazakhstan’s crude oil exports and is expected to supply 70.5 million tons (about 1.53 million barrels per day) by 2025. Its shareholders include Chevron and ExxonMobil. (3) Ukraine has not commented on the attack on the CPC facility. In late November last year, Ukraine attacked the CPC facility and destroyed a floating mooring point, causing the CPC to suspend operations for several days.
