[UK Business Growth Nearly Stagnant in March, Composite PMI Final Reading Revised Down to 50.3] ⑴ The final reading of the S&P Global UK Composite Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) for March was revised sharply down to 50.3, below the initial reading of 51 and February's 53.7, marking the slowest growth in business activity in six months. This reading indicates only marginal expansion, as the Middle East wars are weakening growth momentum across the economy. ⑵ Service sector growth stalled, and manufacturing output contracted again, reversing recent growth. On the cost side, input price inflation surged to its highest level since February 2023, squeezing profit margins. ⑶ Meanwhile, business confidence fell to its lowest level since June 2025, reflecting deepening concerns about the economic outlook.
