[Two Qatari LNG Ships Fail to Pass Through the Strait of Hormuz and Turn Back, Global Gas Flow Remains Disrupted] ⑴ Ship tracking data shows that two ships carrying Qatari liquefied natural gas (LNG) were forced to turn back while attempting to pass through the Strait of Hormuz to exit the Middle East Gulf. The "Al Daayen," originally bound for Tianjin, China, has changed its destination to Pakistan. ⑵ These two voyages were supposed to be the first LNG shipments to destinations outside the Gulf since the outbreak of the conflict, but the turning back confirms that despite limited flow within the Gulf, LNG exports through the Strait of Hormuz are effectively at a standstill. ⑶ From a psychological perspective, the market may have previously expected intermittent opening of the route to ensure some key deliveries, but the continuous turning back means that the geopolitical risk premium has not only failed to subside but has also created a substantial long-term blockage on the supply side. Any energy importer relying on this route needs to reassess the risk of supply disruption.
